My phylosophy for a well covered chess event is the P-I-P stages.
The Opening (Pre-Event): Setting the board. This covers the player announcements, predictions, drama, and stakes before the first pawn is pushed. For me, this involved blasting announcements to social media and websites lettting people know about the event in advance so preparations can be made. I am in charge of the official websites as well as the supporting blogs for the festival.
The Middlegame (In-Event): The tactical clashes. This is the live coverage, the upsets, the blunders, the time-scrambles, and the day-to-day storylines. To capture the story of the event as it happens.
The Endgame (Post-Event): The final conversion. The tournament summary, final standings, prize distributions, and lasting impact on player ratings. Making sure all 9 events results are posted on the websites and this year had an icing in the cake by posting an article to Chessbase too.
I’ve always been a hobbyist and amateur blogger. At best, I consider myself a third-rate blogger. I’m really not good at it. But I do try my best and personally think that I tried harder comparatively looking at past Malaysian Chess Festival.
The results, at least for the “Post” part is the most “complete” I’ve ever done among all 20 of the festival edition. It can be found at : MalaysianChessFestival.com
